Queen of Taboo rules supremely

Abgrund's Yusa Saikawa made her name in the doujin world with sadistic yaoi otokonoko works, cooled off a bit with straight hentai releases, then more recently delved into sibling and parent/child incest.  Not content to allow leave any corner of the doujinshi underrealm unexplored, Saikawa revealed recently another line item to be checked off the societal taboo checklist.  At Comic Market 86, Summer Halation, subtitled she is still someone's wife, looks to be Abgrund's first netorare release. 

Update 1 2:28 pm 8/3:  In the build-up to Comic Market 86, Abgrund has revealed more goods to entice event attendees to stride confidently into doujinshidom's seedy underbelly.  A 16-page full-color companion piece to the circle's NTR release Summer Halation will be available only at the event.

Also, the circle will have a tapestry of an original character creation for sale at the event.

Update 2 10:19 am 8/19:  If you follow me on Tumblr, you know that Amatsukaze is my boat wife, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.  You can surely understand my trepidation, then, when I report that my poor poor darling one has captured Yusa Saikawa's attention as well--Abgrund will have a second book released at Comic Market 86 featuring KanColle's current It Girl, grimly titled DARKNESS.

Following the unfortunate incidents that led her to leave the otokonoko arena, Abgrund's Yusa Saikawa charged back to the top of sales banzukes with her four-book tour-de-imouto-force, Oniichan Controller, Imouto Calendar, Imouto Complete, and OYACODON, released between November 2012 and April 2013.  Saikawa recently revealed that, for the first time since her 2011 Maria Holic parody collection, her circle will produce a soushuuhenn of the Imouto works to be sold at COMIC1☆8 and through the usual suspects.  Coming in at 162 B5-sized pages, the collection will include a brand-new 14-page epilogue to the original story, plus it'll include the human-elf coupling romp Wataero!! that debuted at COMIC1 two years ago. 

Updated 3:03 pm 4/19:  A surprise announcement from Abgrund revealed the circle was not content to simply pat itself on the back for its hard work of a year ago for this year's COMIC1☆8.  Perhaps aided by now having a semblance of a story and/or personality thanks to her Winter 2014 anime series, Nitroplus' ubiquitous mascot Super Sonico has captured the frequently depraved imagination of the circle, and she'll make her starring turn in GOOD-BYE BEAUTIFUL DREAMER, a 24-paged B5-sized release.  

Updated 7:41 pm 4/26:  It's an unprecedented trifecta of titillation from Abgrund at COMIC1, with a 4-koma and omake doujinshi for sale alongside the circle's new book and soushuuhen.

Same great taste, new venue for Kan Colle vanguard

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Abgrund's Yusa Saikawa, the premier doujin-ka adopter of the Kan Colle lifestyle, will depart from the well-worn doujinshi pilgrim's path by foregoing an appearance at Comic Treasure 23 on January 19, instead appearing at the all-Kantai Collection convention Raigeki-sen Yoi! 6 the same weekend.  While Saikawa is quick to display the newest additions to her arsenal via Twitter (and producing fan art just as prolifically), she seems to have found a muse in Yamato, placing her on the circle's third straight cover, each one getting progressively more lewd with the passing of time.

In all of doujinshidom, one would be hard-pressed to find a more devoted fan of Kantai Collection than Yusa Saikawa of Abgrund.  Seemingly nightly, one can expect Saikawa's Twitter to be littered with updates regarding the latest additions to her fleet of girls, statistics, battle results, and the like.  Already with two Kan Colle parodies under her belt, debuting at Comiket 84 and Sankuri 61 respectively, Saikawa has confirmed that a continuation of her latest book featuring that unmistakable flagship of the Japanese fleet, Yamato, will be sold at Tokyo Big Sight this December.  It looks like there'll be goods for sale as well, including what looks like a clipboard featuring Yamato, and, well, something featuring the destroyer Yuugumo.

The futility of being Japanese-illiterate and following doujin-ka on Twitter cannot be understated, but one does manage to glean some information.  Exhibit A?  Man oh man does Abgrund's Yusa Saikawa love Kantai Collection.  Her followers can expect a daily update on her progress in the game, new characters added to her fleet, stats updates, the whole nine yards.  So, when one sees her circle's producing a Kan Colle parody book, one can be fairly assured that it's not just fan service cashing in on the latest fad to sweep otakudom.  After cranking out an Atago-themed book at Comiket 84, Abgrund moves onto that most famous and revered ship in Japanese naval history, Yamato, for Sunshine Creation 61.

Triple Feature from the former Otokonoko Ace at C84

The First Lady of Odaiba, Yusa Saikawa of Abgrund, has definitely found her stride after the unfortunate unpleasantness that prompted her to cease creating otokonoko content, and lately has shown a definite proclivity to feature large-chested girls in the lead role of her books.  After her family-oriented original book series ended with a voluptuous mature version of her heroine, Abgrund's next two books were both parodies of established series featuring chesty characters at the point.  It looks like Abgrund has a new original story to tell, starting at Comiket 84, with another curvaceous maiden gracing the cover, and the subtitle certainly suggests that Abgrund hasn't lost its bite when it comes to taboo topics.

Updated 11:49 a.m. 7/15/13:  After a reveal on Toranoana today, Abgrund's Yusa Saikawa confirmed on the Tweet Machine that she'll have a double feature for us at Comiket 84 next month, with not one but two volumes of her new original story for sale.  While this one lacks the pulpy subtitle of the first volume, the recurrence of enormous measurements and individually wrapped latex balloons certainly seems in lockstep with the first.

Update 2 7/26/13 9:27 am:  An update from Yusa Saikawa's tweet machine today suggests that the artist has not only caught the Kan Colle bug, but will try to show her appreciation by pushing a third doujinshi for Comic Market 84, featuring the heavy cruiser Atago.  With only two weeks until the convention, let's hope that Saikawa doesn't overwork herself too badly to get the book to the streets on time.

Update 3 7/27/13 11:14 am:  Coming in hot off of Yusa Saikawa's Pixiv account nine minutes ago, it looks like the cover of her Kan Colle fan book is ready for display.

Once the Queen of the Otokonoko, more recently the Star of Family Matters (apologies to Reginald VelJohnson) Abgrund artist Yusa Saikawa seems to be on a new track with her latest releases.  After Comic1☆7's GJ-bu parody featuring the busty Megumi Amatsuka, this weekend's Sunshine Creation 60 will mean the debut of a new book featuring the equally endowed MgRonald's staffer Chiho Sasaki of The Devil is a Part-Timer! (Hataraku Maou-sama!).  In addition to the ero doujin, Abgrund will have a book cover, conveniently sized for the light novel series, kemonomimi key chain, and shopping bag all featuring Miss Sasaki for sale at the show.

No rest for the weary former Otokonoko Ace

While plenty of ero doujin artists have announced new books for next weekend's Comic1☆7, not many have shown any new goods for Comitia104 the following weekend.  Not so for Yusa Saikawa of that delightfully depraved Abgrund!  The preview pages, however, suggest a rather different approach for Saikawa--while I wait for further details to emerge, it looks like this might be a koma book, rather than anything ero...not sure if the circle has ever done a koma series before this, and details wait to be seen...

What perversion might be next from the Carnal Queen?

Former Otokonoko Ace Yusa Saikawa found a good deal of retail success with her latest straight offerings, a four-book original sis-con series that ended at Comitia103 in January.  We've been given the cover of Abgrund's next offering, to be released at Comic1☆7 later this month, and, while the translations are forthcoming, it would be fair to assume our covergirl hasn't just lost her dog...The book is already up for pre-order on your favorite smut peddler's site, and the preview pages look, well, moist.

Updated 10:44 am 4/23 Updated on Abgrund's listings for this weekend's Comic1☆7, it looks like the girls from Love Live! School Idol Project have captured Saikawa's fancy--oddly enough, the exact same girls that grace the cover of Oyari Ashito's new ero offering--with the cover given to Nozomi Toujou, and a very active Niko Yazawa found inside.

February Most Kind to (Former) Otokonoko Ace

Trap fans mourned the loss of the talents Yusa Saikawa brought to the genre, brought on primarily by threats and hate mail from abroad, but the artist's transition to heterosexual content has not translated to failure by any means.  Saikawa debuted not one but two new doujinshi at COMITIA103 last weekend, both continuing the salacious sibling story started back in November 2012 at COMITIA102 and continued at Comiket 83.  In addition to the previously revealed Imouto Complete, shown at right, the circle also sold Oyacodon, named after the ubiquitous "parent-and-child" Japanese chicken-and-egg rice dish:

The books have both been very successful, with Oyacodon taking the number 1 slot and Imouto Complete the number 2 slot on Melonbooks' doujinshi sales banzuke for the week of 1/31-2/6.  The re-release of the book that started this original series, Onii-chan Controller from COMITIA102, also made the banzuke at the number 7 slot. 

No indication yet from Saikawa's site regarding continuation of this story--the circle's next convention appearance will be at COMIC1☆7 on April 28

Saikawa Stays On the Straight and Narrow Path

A reveal from the former Otokonoko Ace Yusa Saikawa's Abgrund earlier this week shows what looks to be a continuation of the circle's Comiket 83 original straight doujin, to be debuted at early February's COMITIA103.  It would certainly seem to me that Abgrund's girls in skirts are at least as appealing as their boys in skirts have been these past few years.

Otokonoko Ace seeks redux of post-Comitia success by keeping on the straight-and-narrow?

A survey of the backlog of doujinshi circle Abgrund shows a considerable amount of otokonoko content, both of parody works and originals--if there is a circle better-equipped to explain to skeptics the crossover appeal of the "trap" phenomenon of the past few years, I have yet to stumble across it.  Far from being a one-trick pony, the circle has also done a fair amount of straight ero books as well, and found considerable commercial success with their most recent straight book, making it to the #1 ranking at Melonbooks Akihabara and #4 at Toranoana Akihabara, which has to be considered rarefied air for an original doujinshi.  The circle will attempt to recapture the magic with their Comic Market 83 release:
