COMIC1☆8: †NIL† / Haru Fujibayashi

Canon fodder!

I am fully in favor of having the production committee responsible for OreImo hand the keys to the franchise over to Haru Fujibayashi of †NIL† for the circle's continuation of the story of those infamous star-crossed siblings, Kirino and Kyousuke Kousaka.  The circle's Stardust Tears parody releases have done a fantastic job of exploring the doomed couple's future, and, happily, the circle still has more borders to expand in the series' third iteration, avaliable now.

Comic Market 85: Number2 / Takuji

Russo-Japanese relations burgeoning at C85

While an overwhelming number of doujinshi circles have heaped their attention on the Anglo-Japanese battleship Kongou, Number2 has gone the Cyrillic route at Comic Market 85, it seems.  After years of near-exclusive devotion to the harem circling OreImo's Kyousuke Kousaka, the circle's most recent doujin featuring Kirino on the cover (and the rest of the girls inside) seemed an appropriate capstone to go along with the light novel's and anime's finales, leaving fans to guess what would be the circle's next target.  While a cover image is forthcoming, Number2's website has been overwhelmed overnight by an image of Love Live! School Idol Project's part-Russian darling, Eri Ayase.  Considering the circle's penchant for cycling through heroines from the same series, Love Live! certainly makes for a logical yet exciting option.

Update 1, 9:22 am 12/30/13:  An update from Number2 shows the cover of their Love Live ero parody and other goods offered at Comiket 85.  An omake book featuring Sagiri Izumi of Eromanga-sensei, the new light novel series from Tsukasa Fushimi (Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai), a calendar, and a tapestry featuring Kirino Kousaka from the cover art of the circle's OreImo C84 doujinshi will be found at Takuji's booth.

Comic Market 85: †NIL† / Haru Fujibayashi/ Stardust Tears 2

OreImo canon fire at C85

Following the publishing of the uproarious final chapter of that ultimate otaku bait light novel, Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, and the subsequent conclusion of the faithful and equally incendiary anime adaptation, fans worldwide have had to come to grips that, according to series canon, Chiba's chuunibyou darling Kuroneko did not win the day, that, in fact, Kyousuke Kousaka suffered just as bad a sister complex as we had hoped he didn't.  The image of a wedding dress-clad Kirino in print, in animation, and in figure form was exactly the indelible mark which many fans feared would mar not just their recollection of an otherwise enjoyable series, but anime fandom as a whole, a grand final insult, another item added to the list of examples of debauchery and ridiculousness for non-fans to use against us.

In the world of doujinshi, of course, the pairing of Kirino and Kyousuke is just another possible iteration in a series filled with excellent pairing opportunities, checking off a certain rarefied and taboo handful of boxes for Hiroki Azuma's "Database Animals" that Kuroneko or Ayase or Manami cannot.

Haru Fujibayashi of the obnoxiously moniker'd circle †NIL† explored the night before the siblings' graduation ceremonies, their agreed-upon terminus of their affair, with an artistically accomplished, sensibly and sensitively written, sexy, all-in-all charming parody doujinshi, Stardust☆Tears, released at Comic Market 84.  As suggested by the ending of that book, Fujibayashi had more OreImo work to do, and we will get that continuation at C85 at the end of the month with Stardust☆Tears 2.

Comic Market 84: Number2 / Takuji

Full-color Kirino End from the Titan of Titles

No circle has more fun with the absurdity of the length of long light novel series titles than Number2, who has penned such remarkable works as the Haganai title I Have Too Much Cum, I Can't Stop Cumming Inside Your Pussy, and the OreImo parodies Going Bareback and Coming Inside My Sister and My Sister's Friend.  The circle's devotion to Kirino and Chums has been going on strong for quite a while; they released a soushuuhen of their previous six previous OreImo doujin AND a new OreImo parody book, I Had a Crush on Onii-chan.  He Stole My Virginity From Me In Front of My Friend, at Comic1☆7.

With the anime and light novels both coming to an end recently, one could not be blamed for hoping that the circle would keep the hits on coming, and today's reveal  Regrettably, because of my complete Japanese illiteracy, I cannot read what looks to be another hefty title from the quality circle, but with the world's favorite ota-imouto gracing the cover of their Comiket 84 offering in fine bridal fashion, it's sure to be another championship-calibre edition.

Additionally, it looks like a previously untouched character in Number2's version of the OreImosphere, Saori, gets featured in an omake booklet.

Comic Market 84: Raijinkai / 雷神会 / Harukigenia

Scourge of Chiba reasserts her dominance at C84

Raijinkai has been rather prolific in their choice of series over the past several years and perfectly happy to follow trends rather than stick to one series, with Henneko, SAO, Watamote (way before the anime!), Haganai, AnoHana, Penguindrum, and more all being covered in the past couple of years, rarely doing more than one parody book per series.

Earlier this summer, the circle released a rare soushuuhen, which collected what came as close to a series fixation as the circle's ever shown, OreImo parodies Oreimo Binetsu Tyuihou 1, 2, and 3, all from 2010.  After a long break away, the circle will return to the underbelly of Chiba for their Comic Market 84 release, Oreimo Binetsu Tyuihou 4, featuring lovely yandere Ayase Aragaki on center stage.

Updated 11:35 a.m. 8/9/13:  The Kan Colle affliction continues to run roughshod through the ranks of doujinka at Comic Market 84, with Raijinkai's contribution to the outbreak, a 20-page romp featuring Shimakaze.

Comic Market 84: Hyoco Road / ひょこ道 / Hyocorou

Fallout from an all-nighter with Kirino when the Black Cat comes calling?

Hyoco Road knows when it has a good thing going, as evidenced by the circle's recently revealed Comic Market 84 release.  Other than a Mawaru Penguindrum parody from December 2011's Comiket 81, the circle has been all OreImo all the time dating back to Comic1☆4 more than three years ago.  So shall it be at this summer's Comiket 84, with the second installation of Zettai Kirino Ryouiki, a continuation of their last book from the last Big Sight convention, again with Kirino Kousaka gracing the cover.  It's always a pleasure to see what Hyocorou's intensely edgy art style, even though it can produce reactions such as my wife's "What's wrong with her hip?"

Updated 11:41 a.m. 8/9/13:  It appears that Hyocorou is a fan of hack-'n'-slash action, as there'll be some sort of omake for fans at Comic Market 84 featuring the Sorceress from George Kamitani's side-scrolling brawler Dragon's Crown available for convention-goers, as well as what looks to be a limited-edition bookmark depicting a sukumizu-clad Kirino for book buyers.

Sunshine Creation 60: Digital Lover / Yuka Nakajima / D.L. Action 77

Not exactly a Sankuri shocker...

No word on a new ero doujin from the Doujinshi James Brown, Yuka Nakajima of Digital Lover, but the circle has revealed an endowed mouse pad of remote-wielding Level 5er Misaki Shokuhou of A Certain Scientific Railgun S, ready to provide carpal tunnel relief at Sunshine Creation 60 this weekend.

Updated 8:36 am 6/21:

Between the appearance on the cover of Rough Sketch 75 and the previously revealed 3D mouse pad, it should come as no surprise to Digital Lover's fans that beloved BiriBiri of A Certain Scientific Railgun has been ousted from the cover of D.L. Action 77 by buxom blonde bombshell Misaki Shokuhou, made official with the reveal of the circle's goods for Sankuri 60.  Along with 75 and 76, the circle will also be selling Rough Sketch 76, and it looks like Kuroneko has returned to the cover of it.  Circle artist Yuka Nakajima is not afraid of work, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the circle had both a Railgun and an OreImo book at Comiket 84 in August, though there's plenty of time for another series to capture the circle's interest between now and then...

Comic1☆7: Karory / Karomix

A victory lap for a circle that's come a long way in a short time

After more than two months of radio silence, signs of life have finally emerged from Karory in time for this weekend's Comic1☆7.  While the circle has some new artwork to show off, especially in tapestry form, it looks like the circle will be looking back into its catalog with the circle's first soushuuhen.  With Sena Kashiwazaki and Yozora Mikazuki Corrected 9:30 am 4/19 Kuroneko gracing the cover, it'd be fair to expect the Haganai parodies Karomix EX 4, 5, and 6 to appear, but those three books make up only about half of the advertised 149-page length.  The quality of Karory's artwork has improved by flying leaps and bounds in the past few years, and the circle deserves to take a moment to celebrate its progress with this release.

Updated 9:30 am 4/29:  Karory's soushuuhen is now available for order from Toranoana, and the preview pages confirm that it's Kuroneko on the cover, rather than a long-haired Yozora Mikazuki as previously thought.  This also makes me believe that Karory's two previous OreImo books, Karorful Mix EX 2 and 3, are part of the soushuuhen.  The inclusion of those two would still come up short of the advertised 149-page length.

Comic1☆7: Digital Lover / Yuka Nakajima / D.L. Action 75

Fluttering pink petals on display.  Oh, and hanami too.

Click here for information on D.L. Action 76

The workhorse of the ero doujin thoroughbred stable, Digital Lover, never fails to impress with their impressive production rate of top-flight quality goods, and next weekend's Comic1☆7 will not disappoint.  On the heels of Rough Sketch 74 which debuted at last week's Sankuri 59, and the previously announced dakimakura of OreImo's Kuroneko sporting her winter seifuku and cat tail that made Comiket 83's D.L. Action 73 such a delightful read, we will have yet another full-length ero doujin, D.L. Action 75, dedicated to that tsundere muse, Ruri Gokou.  Decked out in a pink ensemble more befitting her more benevolent alias, Kamineko, looking more than a little tentative amidst the hanafubuki, there's no telling how long she will hold dominion over Nakajima's talents but I am in no particular rush to have the circle move on.

In addition to the new ero doujin, Digital Lover will offer an A6-sized book cover featuring the circle's previous obsession, Misaka Mikoto of A Certain Scientific Railgun, sharing cover space with Misaki Shokuhou.

Comic1☆7 Update: Yasuda / Yasudanchi

The Yandere Scourge of Chiba Strikes Again!

Recently revealed on charming chibi-fier Yasuda's website, the circle will once again be tapping into the charms of OreImo's yandere darling Ayase Aragaki for their newest release, to debut at next weekend's Comic1☆7.  This outing is the circle's first since Comiket 83 and second consecutive book featuring Ayase.  Lucky early buyers will receive a set of five bookmarks showing what might be the results of Kirino's attempt to get her friend into cosplay, much to our delight.

Comic Market 83: Yasudanchi / YASUDA

Perhaps in anticipation of the second season of Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, Yasudanchi will feature Ayase Aragaki in handcuffs and hadaka apron in their Comic Market 83 release.  One would think Ayase would be horrified to learn she's been depicted in such a lascivious manner for the benefit of us disgusting otaku, but judging by Toranoana's preview pages, it doesn't look like she minds all that much.  I rather enjoy YASUDA's character designs; he tends to depict his girls as fairly short and puni, existing somewhere between chibi and realistic, and his books tend to be fun, lighthearted vanilla romps.  While Yasudanchi is a fairly new circle with not a lot of backlog, I expect and hope for a lot more in the coming years.

Comic Market 83: Digital Lover / Yuka Nakajima / D.L. Action 72 & 73

Asunanists rejoice once more, though we may need more room on the altar for other idols...

We finally have an update from top-flight doujin circle Digital Lover, and the news is good for the denizens of Alfheim.  Asuna Yuuki from Sword Art Online maintains top billing on the cover of the circle's Comic Market 83 release, D.L. Action 72, though, as fans of the series have experienced themselves, it looks like she's going to have to share the spotlight with Lyfa, Silica, Lisbeth, and Shinon.  This marks the third consecutive SAO parody by Digital Lover, after the circle's Comic Market 82 and Sunshine Creation 57 releases.

In addition to this new book, we'll also be receiving a soushuuhen collecting other artworks from previous books, and judging by the inclusion of Madoka Magica's Homuhomu and Bakemonogatari's Shinobu Oshino on the cover, it looks like it might include images not just of previous D.L. Actions, but also of some Rough Sketch books as well.  This is the second such multi-series soushuuhen released by the series, in addition to a previously released Railgun and a Yuki Nagato-centric Haruhi soushuuhen from previous years.

Digital Lover will also have a calendar on sale, as well as a good-sized tapestry featuring Asuna and her ALO avatar for our perusal.

Update 1:  9:22 a.m. 12/28/12

Doujinshi world's James Brown keeps on delivering the goods

The hardest-working artist in the ecchi business, Yuka Nakajima, revealed a surprise on his website earlier today--beyond the aforementioned SAO-centric D.L. Action 72, we'll be getting an additional release in the D.L. Action doujinshi series featuring none other than his muse (apologies to Railgun's Misaka Mikoto), OreImo's Kuroneko, on the cover of D.L. Action 73!  In addition, a must-have for Haganai enthusiasts, Sena Kashiwazaki and Kobato Hasegawa grace the cover of Rough Sketch 72 in winter kimono, looking ready for New Year's prayers.
