Comic Market 86: Number2 / Takuji

MakiNicoise salad, not fishy

After pounding away at the sensibilities of doujinshidom with absurdly lewd and lengthy titles skewering OreImo, Number2's more recent Love Live! releases have been slightly more tame in name if not in content. Prevalent series pairing Maki Nishikino and Nico Yazawa star in the circle's Comic Market 86 release, following the Eli Ayase C85 release, and the wider-scoped gravure release from COMIC1 earlier this year.

Comic Market 86: Raijinkai 雷神会 / Harukigenia

Uni Umi Roe Whoa!

Credit where it's due to Raijinkai; the circle held off longer than most before succumbing to the onslaught of the Otonokizakan Empire.  After going the Shimakaze route back at October 2013's Sunshine Creation 61, the circle had taken the path less chosen with parodies of Kill la Kill, Gundam Build Fighters, and Mahouka in succession, before going back to the naval base earlier this summer.  Finally, those persistent charmers of Love Live! have broken through, with Umi Sonoda on the cover of the circle's C86 offering.

Like any good old-school doujin-ka, Harukigenia's loath to let us think he's sold out, though, with Sword Art Online 2's Sinon on the cover of an omake book.

Comic Market 86: Mugenkidou A 無限軌道A / Tomose Shunsaku

Not a boat!  Not an idol!

Mugenkidou A's Tomose Shunsaku has revealed the circle's plan for Comic Market 86, and, defying all odds, it involves neither moe moe war machines nor earnest high school idols.  The group is going all-in on an original character creation similar but apparently different from the original character from last summer's Comic Market 84, with erotic book, dakimakura, and tchotchkes alike all festooned with the young lady struggling mightily with her triangles of cloth.

I don't have very much to say about Renai-Mangaka, as I have not yet had the chance to mine their past works, but if books can be judged by covers, I'm sure my investment will be well-spent once I have the opportunity.  The circle has a pair of KanColle books prepared for fans at Comic Market 86, including Haruna's fourth tour of duty..

..while virtually unheralded, overshadowed Kagerou sister Umakaze brings up the rear of the formation in her first sortie for the circle.

Comic Market 86: WIREFRAME / Hagure Yuuki

On the idol comeback trail

It's somewhat shocking to find that it's been a full two years since WIREFRAME's Yuuki Hagure has gifted doujinshidom with new content, but it's true--after two skipped Winter Comikets and a soushuuhen at last summer's event, the last new doujin the circle produced was August 2012's iDOLM@STER parody, Cinderella Festa.  From iDOL to idle and back to idol, it's Love Live!'s Eli Ayase on the cover of the circle's Comic Market 86 release.

The circle has also revealed an omake booklet and a t-shirt for sale, both featuring Kantai Collection's Amatsukaze.

The 35th edition of Kantoku's Tachiyomi Senyo parody series has been revealed, with No Game No Life's Shino, Sword Art Online 2's Sinon, and Atelier Escha & Logy's Escha Malier present and accounted for amongst the bevy of characters featured.

Comic Market 86: Ajisai Denden アジサイデンデン / Kawakami Rokkaku

Months ago, Ajisai Denden's Kawakami Rokkaku posted to Twitter, and later to the circle's website, pictures of Darkstalkers / Vampire Savior's Morrigan and Lilith Aensland, and eventually the circle produced a release for Comic City 35 in June.  It seems that previous release was merely a preview of coming attractions, as the circle has revealed the sister succubi on the cover of the circle's Comic Market 86 offering.

Comic Market 86: TIES / Takei Ooki

Zuihougatari

TIES' Takei Ooki seems to have no trouble with the concept of monogamy, if the circle's Comic Market 86 offerings are any indication.  It's a steady diet of KanColle's Light Carrier Zuihou, first reprising her role as cover girl last performed at COMIC1 this April.  She also appears on a reusable bag and a custom-made netsuke.

Updated 9:28 pm 8/15:  Naturally, immediately following my commenting on Takei Ooki's apparent fidelity to Zuihou does the artist admit to having a wandering eye, with Shoukaku leading the circle's second sortie at the Battle of Odaiba.  This is her first tour of duty for the circle.

Comic Market 86: Digital Lover / Yuka Nakajima / DL Action 88

Like a sex comic book machine

I am quick to hail Digital Lover's Yuka Nakajima as the hardest working person in the doujinshi business; seemingly every convention, major or minor, there's a new offering of some sort from the circle, and they certainly tend to go all-out with their offerings at the two annual Comic Markets.  C86 will certainly be no exception, with new works and career retrospectives coming to Odaiba next week.

Kantai Collection's Suzuya, Haruna, and Amatsukaze look a little tuckered out on the cover of DL Action 88, the circle's sixth KanColle erotic parody.  Perhaps most notable is Amatsukaze's appearance on the cover; this marks the first occasion of any of the kanmusu returning to cover duty.

The twintailed experimental one gets no break, either, appearing on a B2-sized tapestry entangled underneath imouto Shimakaze amidst a smattering of Rensouhou-chans.

Concurrent with the second season of Sword Art Online, Asuna Yuuki appears alongside spiritual sister Kuroyukihime from Accel World on the cover of DL AW & SAO Soushuuhen, collecting DL Actions 67, 68, 70, 71, 72, 74, and 83.

Just in time for the new school year, SAO 2's Sinon and Asuna appear on a book cover.

Seizing the opportunity for a dash of self-promotion, Yuka Nakajima will also offer a 20-page non-ero booklet introducing the characters of Amagi Brilliant Park, the light novel series and soon-to-be-anime which characters she designed, with leading ladies Latifa Fleuranza and Isuzu Sento at the fore.

All these goodies culminate in a 20-page 20th anniversary memorial book, featuring characters from works the circle's parodied in the past, including Ragnarok Online, where the circle first made their hay, along with Trauma Center, Evangelion, OreImo, and more.

Comic Market 86: NiseMIDIdoronokai 偽MIDI泥の会 / Ishikei / MikanAX

Heeeeeeeeeere's Ishi!

There's been a cold, dark, empty spot in the halls of Tokyo Big Sight since December 2012's Comic Market 83, a spot usually filled with warmth, soft naked flesh, considerable moisture, fun, and undeniable eroticism.  If you wait just a moment to observe, though, you'll notice the temperature rising...  

That last appearance by NiseMIDIdoronokai, the circle had naught but a soushuuhen and a textless eight-page gravure release of iM@S's Rika Jougasaki to show for itself.  While circle artist Ishikei has been extremely busy in the passing months, lending his considerable talents to the monthly Comic X-Eros hentai magazine, fans had been left wanting for a new example of the staggeringly erotic parody talent that made the man one of the most favored sons of the Doujin Kingdom.  Finally, back on July 9, Ishikei made a rare apeparance on Twitter to reveal a new picture of To Love-Ru's Mikan Yuuki and simultaneously confirm that he's still got his fastball.

The release of MikanAX is NiseMIDIdoronokai's fourth To Love-Ru doujinshi, the last one being December 2011's HakuDark.  Mikan was last featured in MikanAL back at Comic Market 76 in August 2009.

Comic Market 86: Shigunyan しぐにゃん

I will say it until you believe me...

...SHIGUNYAN HARUNA IS BEST HARUNA.

I wish all of doujinshidom could see the perfect, celestial synergy taking place between Shigunyan and Kantai Collection's Haruna--somehow, some way, a relatively unheralded and undistinguished circle has found its muse, and we are all best served by merely bearing witness to the adorable display.  Thus far, she's graced three doujinshi, a tapestry, and a small bag, and now the cat-eared cutie comes dakimakurized, wedding-banded and ready for prime placement in your otaku lair.  

Not content to simply laze about in bed, Haruna is also featured in an erotic parody doujinshi, her fourth such appearance for the circle, though it's not certain where her nekomimi have gone off to in this outing...

Also, for the third time, KanColle's Kaga will star in an erotic parody book for the circle, apparently having inherited Haruna's cat ears and also sporting a wedding ring, neither of which she had in her previous outings at C85 or Sankuri 62.
